Description: Purifies the blood, relieves gas & stomach pain, stimulates uterine contractions. Also used as a flavoring & was commonly used in the 19th century medicine to induce perspiration at the beginning of a cold & to promote menstruation. It was taken also with brewer's yeast to induce abortion.
Essential oil of peppermint can be applied to the skin or mouth to relieve pain. The essential oil in peppermint teas relieves the pain associated with colitis and colic.

Tea is the most common and best employed use of this ingredient.
The oil is used as flavoring in toothpaste, dental creams, mouthwash, cough candies, chewing gm, and baked goods.
Medicinal Precautions:
For best results, avoid boiling peppermint tea, instead add simmering water to a cup of the material instead of boiling directly.
